Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently asked questions

What patterns are currently available for testing?

Testing opportunities are currently closed.

Who can do pattern testing?

I prefer testers to have basic knowledge of sewing and know how to read a pattern, and have some experience with basic construction details such as darts and facings.

Depending on the pattern complexity you may need more than beginner experience but this will be explained in communication for the specific pattern.

Communication is also really important for me, so please send me a personal email or dm with a little bit about you and why you want to test. If you have any photos of your previous sewing projects I'd love to see them!

What sizes do your patterns come in?
  • Sizes EU 34 - 50
  • Bust 80cm - 116cm
  • Waist 62cm - 98cm
  • Hips 86cm - 122cm
Do I have to commit to testing a minimum number of patterns in a year?

No, there are no commitments required to test.

How long do I have to finish the testing process?

Ideally 2 - 3 weeks from when you accept. But we understand life can sometimes get in the way and that is no problem - we are grateful for your support and are here to support you through to finishing the testing process.

How are pattern testers selected?

I like to have a variety of people of different skill levels, experience and sizes test my patterns. I do require different sizes to be tested and from there I usually review and select testers on a first in basis. If you meet the basic requirements and time commitments, I’ll usually offer you an opportunity to test.

Communication and forming a relationship is also really important, so please send me an email or dm with a little bit about you, why you want to be a pattern tester and photos of any makes.

What makes a good pattern tester?

The most important thing for me is communication - whatever the issue or concern please let me know. This is very much a collaborative process and my role is to help support you to get to the finish line with the testing process.

It is also vital that you share your experience with me and any photos of your project.

I prefer to have people who are willing to share decent quality photos to share on socials - but at minimum I require fit photos to see how the pattern looks and fits once sewn.

How do I provide feedback on my testing experience?

Please email me any questions or feedback during the testing process and at the end I’ll ask you to complete a survey in Google Forms as well as sharing your photos of the dress and styled photos.

What kinds of photos should I send of my made garment?

To effectively showcase handmade clothes in a selfie, ensure good lighting, use a stable, waist-to-chest-high camera position to show true proportions, take photos from multiple angles (front, side, back) with a timer or tripod, keep the background simple and clutter-free, and pose naturally with relaxed hands. Consider taking detail shots and full outfit photos to highlight craftsmanship.

What will I receive for testing?

You will be entitled to a free pattern of your choice from my store - once your test is completed please let me know what you’d like.

How do I apply to test a pattern?

If you have already filled out the tester survey then simply send me an email, or dm on instagram to express your interest and I'll be in contact soon.
